Behind the Scenes

Hi,I’m Berkeley. Originally from Washington state, I now call the sun-drenched landscapes of New Mexico home. My journey has taken me from the confines of a nine-to-five job to a life of creativity and craftsmanship, a path driven by my deep passion for building and creating.

Having lived in a van and traveled across the United States, I’ve embraced a life of freedom and exploration. My diverse background and experiences have shaped my perspective, and I celebrate this by incorporating elements of diversity and resilience into my work.

Woodworking holds a special place in my heart—it’s a craft that connects me to my roots. My father is a skilled woodworker, and his influence is a cornerstone of my passion. I’m inspired by the natural world, finding joy in the smells of sawdust and cedar, and the beauty of reclaimed materials. Each piece I create reflects the beauty and resilience of nature, a tribute to my journey and the emotions that drive me.

My first collection, ‘92, symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter, capturing the essence of inspiration and personal growth in every cut, sand, and finish. Woodworking is not just a craft for me; it’s a lifelong resonance and a deep connection to the earth. I’m grateful to have found a way to merge my love for creativity with a meaningful, hands-on approach to making art.

Here at BASM studio I encourage you to let your space reflect who you are. In a world crowded with mass production, dare to showcase your uniqueness. When you choose handmade, you’re not just selecting decor; you’re embracing a legacy of quality and creativity.

Welcome to my world of woodworking.
